How to Use Past Papers
Use past papers strategically to double your prep efficiency
Study Timeline +
Choose the best study pace based on time remaining:
- 3-Month Systematic: Month 1 topic-based papers, Month 2 year-based sets, Month 3 mock exams + fill gaps
- 1-Month Intensive: First 2 weeks high-frequency topics, last 2 weeks daily papers + same-day review
- 1-Week Cram: Focus on last 5 years (2021-2025), 2 timed mocks daily, review recurring mistakes
Practice Order +
Different strategies at different stages for maximum effect:
- Foundation (by topic): Practice by algebra, geometry, number theory, combinatorics to build frameworks, pair with Key Topics guide
- Strengthening (by year): Start from newest (2025→2020→2015→…), prioritize recent exam style and difficulty
- Sprint (mixed): Random year papers, practice switching between topics, simulate real exam unpredictability
Mock Exam Training +
Strictly simulate real exam conditions:
- 40-min limit: 25 questions, ~1.6 min each. Finish first 15 in 20 min, leaving time for last 10
- Pacing: Skip questions stuck for 2+ min, secure easy points first, return later
- Answer sheet: Fill every 5 questions to avoid end-of-exam errors; no references or calculator allowed
Error Review Strategy +
Use errors efficiently for spiral improvement:
- Categorize: Tag errors as concept/calculation/reading/method issues to find weakest areas
- Trace back: Link each error to concepts and formulas, use Formula Sheet to reinforce foundations
- Spaced review: Review Day 1 → Redo Day 3 → Test Day 7; remove after 3 consecutive correct attempts
